France's house truly was decorated for the occasion. The main hall had been cleaned until it shined and glittered even more with gold and silver highlights. There were various paintings framed in very well cared for wooden frames and spotless glass. The floor was marble and remained unblemished, even from the various people dancing. The ceiling was high and arched. Two crystal chandeliers hung from it and gave the room light. Roses of various colours decorated the entire room and tied everything together.
Outside, rosebushes shaped a large, clear square area where people could come for fresh air. The music playing inside could also be heard out there. Most of the area outside was covered with well kept grass with a stepping stone path from the large glass doors that went to the hall, to the entrance of the maze that France was so proud of. He had designed it himself and made it the perfect place to take a lover for some privacy.
The maze itself was large and full of dead ends. There were many ways to get to the middle, but they were all complicated and if you weren't careful, a person could very easily get lost.
Inside was where most of the people were. France was in there, making passes at Canada, who usually went unnoticed. However, seeing as France had a thing for him, he wasn't invisible this time. Canada did secretly like the Frenchman, though. He just never had the courage to say it. England was not happy about all this. He didn't like the "lovey-dovey aura" they were giving off. He was a bit protective over the timid country. But, America was holding him back, saying he should let them be because it was France's birthday.
Italy, Germany, and Romano were outside taking a breather along with a few others. Italy and Germany were resting on a bench nearby, holding hands. They seemed deep in a conversation and Romano didn't want to disturb them, even if he didn't like the potato bastard. He himself was nervous. It was France's party and he had seen Prussia, but he hadn't seen Spain yet. He knew Spain was there somewhere, but he didn't know exactly where. He was unable to relax knowing he might bump into him at any moment. He really didn't want to see him. It would just make him regret what he did even more and he didn't want that. He sighed and finished off what was left of the Champagne in his glass.
France, who had managed to peel himself away from Canada, came outside and put his arm around Romano. Romano jumped and spun around expecting to see Spain, but saw France instead. He calmed a little and asked, "What do you want?" in a rather irritable tone.
"Relax." He said. "I only want to talk to you. Is that so wrong?"
"Coming from you? Yes." Romano said bluntly.
"Ow, that hurt," France said, pouting a little. "Come on. Just a little walk. I won't do anything to you," he said in his most convincing voice. He put his arm back around Romano and began leading him into the maze.
"Where are we going?" He asked, a little suspicious.
"Don't worry. We're just going in a big loop. I know this place like the back of my hand. I did design it after all," France replied reassuringly.
Romano looked down. "Oh, okay then."
France took his arm off of Romano, knowing he would follow him anyways. "So, would you mind telling me why you broke up with Spain?"
Romano froze. Why did he have to ask that? He hung his head so that his hair hid his eyes and no one could see what they looked like.
France stopped a few paces away and turned, seeing that Romano had also stopped. He walked back up to Romano and put a hand on his shoulder. "Come on. You can tell big brother France. I promise I won't tell anyone."
Romano looked back up. "Promise?" he asked with a very serious face.
     "Promise."
     "Okay..."
The two of them started walking again. Romano began telling him about his relationship with Spain. How it was all well and good at first, but then the amount of attention began dropping and how Italy was getting more and more. He also said that it seemed like he wanted Italy more than him. France just quietly listened and led the way to the center of the maze. When Romano had finished most of his rant, France asked, "So, how often did you get any?"
Romano went red. Did France really have to ask that question? He looked down and to the side and answered. "Pretty often a-at first... But it kinda... lessened... He was usually too busy with something else or something..." Romano answered hesitantly. He wasn't sure what made him tell him that.
"That really doesn't help the situation. Ah! We're here!" France said as he entered the center.
Romano looked around it. He saw an elegantly decorated space with a table for two in the center with candles on it. "What the hell is this?" he asked, unimpressed.
"Oh, just something I set up for later." He said with a nervous laugh.
Probably for him and Canada... he thought, giving it another look over. He was about to ask France to lead him out, but France cut him off with, "Oh my! I have to go check on something inside! Do you mind staying here a moment?" and left without giving Romano a choice.
Romano tried to stop him, but France left too quickly. He sighed and cursed him under his breath. He walked over to the table and saw French rolls and a variety of French cuisine and a high quality French wine. He picked up one of the buns and began eating it, figuring that France wouldn't notice if only one was missing.

Back outside, France exited the maze and found Spain nearby. He went up to his friend and said, "He's in. You just need to find him and convince him."
Spain smiled. "Thank you France. You're the best," he said and hugged his friend.
"Oui oui, I'm the best. But one thing first. Apologize to Romano before anything else." He said, looking Spain in the eye.
Spain was a little confused. "Why?"
"Wow. You are thick-headed. You didn't even realize you were neglecting him?"
Spain shook his head. "I was neglecting him? I know when he broke up with me, he mentioned if I wanted Ita-chan so much, I should take him. I wasn't too sure why he said that."
"That's because you were paying more attention to Ita-chan than him. Seriously. Start paying more attention to Romano. That should fix this problem. Now go find him!" France said, sending Spain off into the maze.

Back in the center of the maze, Romano was getting thoroughly bored. He was wondering when France would be getting back and was leaning back on one of the chairs at the table. He perked up when he heard someone coming closer. "France is that you? You took forever! Where have you be-" He stopped. It wasn't France.
     It was Spain.
Yay! Happy birthday, France! It's a little past midnight here, so it's the 14th now!

Yeah, I'm splitting the party up into at least three parts. I'm writing up the second part right now, but that'll be up in a few hours. Until then, have fun guessing what's gonna happen!

Goodness, I keep on getting distracted while writing these! That, and I listen to music that doesn't fit what I'm writing at all. Like The Lonely Island... I listen to them quite a bit ^^;
Oh well. Enjoy!
